12 Austrian students stayed in Brighton for a period of 4 weeks to have their internship in local companies and improve their English in a language course.
Read what students wrote about their stay:
“I was very pleased with my work placement. Even though I was a stranger, I felt that I was family to my chef. He always talked to us and was kind and understanding. Everyone of my colleagues was very nice and the workplace was not like I feared.
As I arrived to my host family the host mother was very welcoming. She explained things I didn’t know to me and was always patient when we had a conversation and I didn’t know a word. The food that was cooked there was always good.
My day trip to London was very fun even though the weather was quite bad. I had a lot of fun at Madame Toussous. The history tour and the 4D Marvel Film were the most fascinating among them. After that I went to the London Eye – it was very nice. It was a fabulous sight.”
“This month was a very good experience. I could improve my English. I have learned a lot of new usages and a lot of things about the people. My boss was so nice I was doing things I’m also doing in my workplace at home. My host family was so nice. She helps us every time when we need anything. She loves cooking so we have every day a really good meal. I was a little bit scared about the food in England, but it was really good!
Brighton is such a nice and lovely city! The people are so nice and friendly. Everybody helps you if you are in trouble. I loved the time here I wouldn’t forget it. I love the sea and the special shells.
I would recommend it to everyone. A month is very long, but I had no time to think about my family so I had no home sickness. The organisation and the English language course from IBD was great!
Thanks for this beautiful experience!”
“The 4 weeks were very great! The work placement was very interesting and I had always something to do. The people were so friendly and it was always funny. I worked every day about six hours and that was perfect.
The host family was very friendly and our host mother was always there for us, for example, she explained us every time with which bus we can drive to the work and so on.
The English lessons were always funny and I learned to speak better English. Brighton is so beautiful, the sea also. It is a great feeling to sit on the beach and hear the water. It was a very great time and I won’t forget it for the rest of my life!“
